A man recently sold a car he had hired because he was short of cash. Chun Lau hired the car from Caversham Vehicle Hire in Ardler Road, Reading.
Lau said he did not intend to sell the car when he first hired it however financial difficulties meant he ended up selling the car at a car wash for £2,600. The car was a Mitsubishi Colt which was actually worth about £7,000.
Lau was charged in court with one count of theft. The forty nine year old man was also found to be holding cannabis and cocaine which he explained in court was to help improve intimate relations with his wife.
The vehicle was hired initially for a short time before Lau extended the deal.
Hmmmm…How exactly did he think this plan might work???
